The Ratskeller is simply part of Darmstadt and is definitely worth a visit. Delicious dishes and good food, what more could you want. The wait staff are friendly, but you should expect waiting times as it is very busy, especially in summer. You can sit inside as well as outside and there is a smoking area in the basement.

Always worth a visit. The Ratskeller in Darmstadt invites you to linger. Whether in the rustic ambience inside. Here you can sit around the counter in the entrance area, in the separate rear area for dining or on the upper floor. When the weather is nice, a place on the market square is worthwhile. The menu is also definitely recommended. Personally, I especially like the pork knuckle! Highly recommended in terms of quality and taste. Crunchy crust, tender meat and good amount. What more do you want? I am always happy to be a guest. Whether for dinner or just for a cozy beer.

A good place to go for a beer (it's own and it's delicious) or to try German food :) If the weather is good, it is wonderful at the tables outside.

Great service, cozy inside and outside with a great panorama on the market square with a view of the city palace. Here we have already met twice with our high school graduate: friendly and flexible reservation despite a large group, the size of which is never completely determined until the end.

The best beer there is in the region. Also, I haven't eaten such a delicious rump steak in a long time! Perfectly fried the way I ordered it! My absolute recommendation if you like to eat steak! The service was also super nice and very attentive. We will be back definitely!

Unfortunately you have to give a star to rate this 'inn' at all. Playing cards is forbidden, so we left again. But beer is good. #pleasecompletternstaken

Very tasty Helles - waitresses on their toes, at least in the early evening. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend the sausages at all. They looked like fried, but they just tasted oily and were cold. The bread with the cooked cheese and the bratwurst etc. was awesome .... Just like the knuckle. The Käsespätzle were a few spaetzle, with a maximum of Emmentaler without mountain cheese and a few lightly braised onions. More in the upper price segment, although I expect a different house number when eating. But the BEER - it went very well and is really delicious!

There is home-brewed beer right on the market square with a relatively large number of seats inside and outside. The food also tastes good and comes soon after the order. Beer is half price in the pint hour between 5 and 6 p.m. There is a star deduction for the mixed quality of the service. From attentive and courteous to listless and inattentive, pretty much everything is included, even if the positively noticeable waitresses predominate.

Nice seating outside and fast, friendly service. The white sausages ordered were of poor quality and obviously lay too long in the brew. The pretzel, on the other hand, was okay.

The food and service are awesome! I don't like that they wear face shields instead of masks. They are not the equivalent in safety against the spread of coronavirus. They are crazy about the contact tracing, but not about the actual safety of guests.

We got there 45 minutes after the advertised opening time. A slight pull on the main door rendered it open, but however, on the other side of the sticky door, was a furious crack addled female. She proceeded to swear at us in a language that we could not understand, and then offered us sexual favours for 5€ per head.

The Schweinshaxe is too freaking salty. Uneatable.

Beer is very good, staff are a bit pushy to spend more money, but great view.

By far the most unfriendly staff in Darmstadt. Sometimes I have the feeling that it is purely a tourist bar. I didn't have a lock with me and wanted to sit down with a group of friends for a moment. I asked if I could lean my bike against the wall for a moment. Unimaginable for the staff. I probably asked too much for that. I found it super disappointing. In addition, it wasn't my first "good" experience with the staff.

We went to the Ratskeller on Saturday afternoon and it was fine. The fried potatoes didn't taste fresh and the schnitzel with bread was okay. The half chicken was just fine. Unfortunately, one bank was completely covered with ketchup. Ratskeller in general live from name rather than quality.

People like to Enjoy the German Traditional Beer and this is the right place, always crowded by their Customers and everyone is welcome. You can choose where you want to sit or make a reservation before arrival.

Simply the hottest place in Darmstadt. Super delicious knuckles with sweet mustard are served here, as well as the fresh and super delicious Ratsbräu.

Host not charming at all, we couldn't play cards at all and the beer is not even very good...

Wonderful beer, great schnitzel

What a certain Thomas Martin writes is simply nonsense. The focus in the beer garden is of course on the (excellent) beer. But the dishes are good to sometimes very good. The mentioned review can only be explained with a personal problem of the reviewer.

Simply love it here. The beer is great. And service also (special hi to Manuel). Come by at Happy Hour Time (5.30 to 6.30pm) and you will see this place in real action.

Happy hours from 5:30pm to 6:30pm. Super crowded during happy hours. Excellent beer, good food. Nice outside tables in summer.

Very good Quality and the price appropriate. Soup, Schweinaxe and potatoes, 2 biers, icecream with fruits. Waiters take care of you. Consigliato!

Fabulous local beer brewery ! very local flavor in an ancient building. I like how they counted the beers we drank: scribbling crosses on our glass mats !

A bit busy in after hour time. It was a bit hard for my group to get a table. Also the beer I ordered didn't have discount and I just got told so when we asked for the bill. Therefore I would recommend always ask which beer are on happy hour and which don't. But the beer was great, the food was nice and we had a great time.
